Having always wanted to be a physician, Dr. Stefan Shuaib chose to become an ear, nose and throat specialist because of the variety of procedures and disease processes that otolaryngologists treat.
After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, Dr. Shuaib went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Texas at Houston on a full merit scholarship.
Following medical school, he then completed an internship and an otolaryngology residency at the Montefiore Hospital in New York City, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year.
During his training, Dr. Shuaib took every opportunity to hone his skillset under the tutelage of some of America’s top sinus surgeons. He gained extensive knowledge of sinus disease, nasal anatomy, and learned about cochlear implantation and treatment for cancers of the head and neck as well.
Dr. Shuaib has been practicing in the Rio Grande Valley since 2017. He treats patients of all ages with a wide variety of conditions. He is a unique presence in his field because he advocates for medical management through the most conservative treatments initially, before more invasive options are considered.
Dr. Shuaib is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and his interests in treatments for sleeping disorders as well as nasal obstruction are evident in published articles in ENT medical journals.
Active in a number of professional roles, Dr. Shuaib is involved with the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association. He has served on the AAO-HNSF Plastic & Reconstruction Surgery Committee and has served since 2014. Additionally, since medical school, Dr. Shuaib is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Shuaib is a devoted husband and father of a newborn son. He met his talented wife (who speaks 4 languages) during his residency in New York City. In his leisure time, Dr. Shuaib enjoys spending his time outdoors. Hiking, golf and walks on the beach accompanied by his family and dog are some of his favorite pastimes. He also likes to find time for tennis whenever possible.
“Providing care for my patients and restoring their quality of life gives me a sense of pride and joy that reminds me over and over again why I became a physician in the first place.” – Dr. Stefan Shuaib

Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor and Sinus Specialist
Medically and surgically treats adult and pediatric patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.
I've been to several ENT doctors in the Rio Grande Valley, but no one has even come close to the way Dr. Shuaib treats his patients. He is very courteous and actually takes the time to listen to you if you have any questions. You are not rushed, and he explains what he is going to do before he does it. His staff is well organized and the office in McAllen is welcoming.Mr. Q
The best ENT I've ever seen. Speaks to patients so they can understand procedures. Pleasant bedside manner. Listens to patients regarding concerns. Great office staff.Mrs. Ruth J.
Dr. Shuaib gave me my life back! He operated on me after 10 years of sinus problems and I can finally breathe again, sleep again, go out again without using ten tissues in 5 minutes. I had seen so many ENT doctors before him and none of them had been able to diagnose me and cure me. I highly recommend Dr. Shuaib!Mrs. Susana L.
